Pride / Humility

Define out Pride and Humility?

Kayoko's definition:
Pride is placing oneself in a higher position,
Humility is placing others in a higher position.

I like what Elizabeth said, "I"specialist!!! A lot of capital I.

In Luke 18:9-14 (NLT)

Parable of the Pharisee and Tax Collector
9 Then Jesus told this story to some who had great confidence in their own righteousness and scorned everyone else: 10 “Two men went to the Temple to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a despised tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer: ‘I thank you, God, that I am not a sinner like everyone else. For I don’t cheat, I don’t sin, and I don’t commit adultery. I’m certainly not like that tax collector! 12 I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’ 14 I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

------------------------------------------------------------
The tax collector humbled himself and did not ask God to for more rewards, but more for his faults. Three points I learn from today's sharing was -

#1. Awareness Ps 139:23-24
#2. Repentance Heart 2 Cor 7:10
#3. Come to God with your BROKENNESS
Let God change you, it is ok to be broken, poor in spirit

Matt 5:3-11

The Beatitudes
3 “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,[a]
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
4 God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 God blesses those who are humble,
for they will inherit the whole earth.

6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they will be satisfied.
7 God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God.
9 God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

11 “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. 12 Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

Are you broken and need God? Don't only accept the good things in your life, but also the bad things. Take all and give him praise, and be in the presence of God as he picked you, to be his creation and his likeness. Be saved in the name of Jesus Christ.

GoD M.S.G. [Feb 25 - Mar 3, 2009]

Last weekend in church, we continued on Spiritual Awakening - I updated my facebook profile status to, "Francis is changing his programming", and a friend of mine up in Seattle who does programming commented on my status saying he liked it ...

I found that amusing but yet I think he grasp the wrong meaning to my update. Are we even aware of our own insecurity is part of an emotional programming that can be reversed, replaced and corrected.

My life is so unaware of this, emotions take control of the every being and all views of it too. I want to be transformed and don't you want to be too??? Transformed to be better and be loving to others more - or are you moved by society on the norm of things in life. Jesus is the way, why look under the bed, in your work, in your financial difficulties, in your insecurities. A note on Sunday was in the 3rd point -

* There is an inner need for security that is so deep that only God can fill it - and He has already done so - all we need is to be Aware & Receive it!

Wake up to the truth of Jesus and his Gospel of the Good news and be in his righteousness/approval, How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They're innumerable (Ps. 139:17). Come and see the pierced hand of God touch the most common heart, wipe the tear from the wrinkled face, and forgive the ugliest sin. Come and encounter my King . . . do you know him?

(Psalm 139:13-18 NLT)

13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.

17 How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.
They cannot be numbered!
18 I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you are still with me!

In His Grace,
Francis

How great it would be have a great white piano at the edge of a cliff and playing it to the tune the wind.

I know you may not clean your computer screen very often and it is hard to do the inside, so here is my present to you.

Have a lovely day and take a break to sit-stop-listen (Pine: Rice&Virtue).

Cheers,
Francis Law

As I was siting down on my desk today and looked at the sky, wow - so many stars ... too many probabilities that might occur in that vast amount of space. Movies that talk about how you should believe in them, their ideas, their love and their their their - don't let the world misguide you in life. Jesus is the way and an everlasting change in our lives - Wake up, come to OUR SENSES!!! Begin to see, reality as it really is. I really like the poem Andre read when he was on a flight, it is indeed very amazing how God fills our lives. So I leave you with the poem and pray for your days ahead in the weeks so that you will continue to receive God's love.

I was a neurotic for years.
Anxious, depressed, selfish.
And everyone kept telling me to change.
And I resented them, and agreed with them,
and wanted to change, but simply couldn't, no matter how I tried.

What hurt the most was that,
like the others, my closest friend kept urging me to change.
So I felt powerless and trapped.

One day he said "Whether or not you change. I love you as you are."
Those words were music to my ears: "Whether or not you change. I love you as you are …
Whether or not you change. I love you as you are ... I relaxed.
I came alive. And, suddenly, I changed!
Now I know that I couldn't really change till I found someone to love me whether I changed or not.

Is this how you love me, God?

Music for Thought

Akiko shared her thoughts and this song makes a lot of sense ... knowing how messed up we are - and the lyrics creates in my life that he is the way! My King

Here are the lyrics:

How many times have I turned away
The number is the same as the sand on the shore
But every time You've taken me back
And now I pray You do it once more.

Chorus:
Please take from me my life
When I don't have the strength
to give it away to You Jesus

How many times have I turned away
The number is the same as the stars in the sky
But every time You've taken me back
And now I pray You do it tonight

(Rom 12:2, Philip. 4:11-13, John 8:32)

Throughout the week, there was a thought stuck in my head and it was really just how Jesus would be your pilot. He is behind you with the wheel on the ship so you will be sailing the right direction - and then God is the point your ship is sailing towards ... an invisible line that Jesus' sees to lead you on the right path - & finally the Holy Spirit blowing that breeze you need so that you will be able to sail or else it would be floating in mist of the ocean for me.

Romans 12:2-3 (The Message)
Place Your Life Before God

1-2 So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

3 I'm speaking to you out of deep gratitude for all that God has given me, and especially as I have responsibilities in relation to you. Living then, as every one of you does, in pure grace, it's important that you not misinterpret yourselves as people who are bringing this goodness to God. No, God brings it all to you. The only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is and by what he does for us, not by what we are and what we do for him.

---------------------------------

Our lives are filled with different programming. Our upbringing, cultural and worldly programming affects and influences us more than we realize - it will shape us and move us - hence if you observe carefully yourself, you will know what is our programming then being aware will lead us to right living by having the right thoughts. Pine brought up a sign he saw outside while driving, outside a Vietnamese church the sign read: "God seems so far away .......................Guessed who moved?"

Our change in our life, true change will last if we perform it from the INSIDE-OUT out and not the other way around.

GoD M.S.G. [Feb 04 - 10, 2009]

Mark 5:21-43

I was reading through the reading on Sunday and the title for this reading was - Jesus heals in response to faith.

When Jesus went onto shore, so many people were awaiting to see him. Then there was one woman who knew there were so many people crowding Jesus and yet she struggled to reach out to him. She hoped by maybe touching Jesus' robe, she will be healed. And indeed she was healed by touching Jesus! It is the direction and object of our faith that will save not the size of our faith. Our lives are so messed up and sometimes do we really realized that? How desperately helpless, and our struggles are like storms and hurricanes - blowing and hurling things in our way and we can only feel quite helpless. Jesus holds us by our hand and tells us to awake from our sleep that we so deeply believe is sufficient, but only through Jesus his grace is sufficient for us in the mist of our trials, troubles and storms.

[Ephesians 2:5-6 NLT]
5that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

Let the seasons of Christ, his resume of weakness and goodness be our every stream of life . . . our minds and hearts following Jesus, everyday wanting him to live by grace - So do not be afraid. Just have faith (Mark 5:36) Give God the time-line of your life and allow Jesus to become our deepest personal all in all and to connect with him relationally at our deepest levels.
