GoD M.S.G. [July 15-21, 2009]

This week the reading comes from Psalm 73; a psalm of Asaph. Asaph was very talented and gifted but had envy in the heart and center of thoughts, and so Psalm 73 shows us the outlook of Asaph looking at someone else's life and being unhappy at other people's happiness.

* Envy is invisible and hides itself
* Envy sucks joy out of our lives

i truly experience envy as it does not make you happy at all ... it just creeps up and silent attacks you from the inside, rotting from your life inside. I believe it was a poison that was psychologically and socially blinding in my life. Envy was not taught when i was in school, but it existed on every corner, "that is a nicer looking car than mine"; "wow! your computer is way cooler than mine - i just have a small laptop."; "somehow you have more friends than me on your online profile, what's that about?" ... etc etc etc and it can go on and on and it really takes our eyes of the one we should be focus on - Jesus. Envy helped reveal our true idols and understand our own heart.

i choose to be honest before God as it is a step to overcome envy and discouragement, because i know God is trustworthy and i know you can trust him long-term and not just now. But it takes time to make sense and to allow Grace to flow into our lives. God accepts us no matter how messed up we are - HOW GREAT is THAT?!?!?! So my friend i choose to worship and fully experience the unconditional grace of God as i choose to be free and not be powered by the world in my life - i wonder if you will give God a little bit of your time to let Him tell you how much He loves and wants to hold you.

Allow God to draw you to Him, my friend i wish you well and joy - till next time :))

James 4 NLT
1 What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? 2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. 3 And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

4 You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. 5 What do you think the Scriptures mean when they say that the spirit God has placed within us is filled with envy? 6 But he gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say,

“God opposes the proud
but favors the humble.”

7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. 9 Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.
